Phenamine
A bactericide may be used to kill the bacteria that are making the antibiotics. It should not be used with ampicillin, clindamycin, tetracycline, or azithromycin.
Dextrin
Dextrin is a combination antibiotic with sulfamethoxazole (SMX) or trimethoprim (BOP), to kill the bacteria that make the antibiotics. It should not be used with chloramphenicol (CMI), cefixime, cefotaxime, cefotaxime plus doxycycline, cefotaxime plus rifampin, or ceftazidime plus azithromycin. Dextrin may be used with chloramphenicol, cefotaxime, cefotaxime plus rifampin, cefotaxime plus SMX, cefotaxime plus rifabutin, or rifabutin plus doxycycline, or with amikacin, clarithromycin, metronidazole, neomycin, and penicillin, or with aminoglycosides, sulfonamides, and penicillin. The combination of antibiotics is not recommended for use in children aged less than 16 years. When Dextrin is used for treatment of infections in children, do not use Dextrin in the treatment of infections in the elderly, as this will increase the risk of the infection.
